Mixed media projects
Most of my work falls into this category as I love to experiment with using different materials to add interest, depth, texture, colour and movement to a piece. I enjoy going back to basics and making my own paper and dyeing my own fabrics, for example, to ensure I get exactly the outcome I’m aiming for.
I created this woodland collection based on my love of the colours and textures of nature. The collection comprises a series of hand embroidered panels, each measuring 300mm x 230mmm. The background fabric has been oven-dyed with coffee and stretched over canvas blocks
The Idea For this mixed media project I took a discarded Victorian Anthology which is a beautiful book full of pieces of poetry and prose alongside lovely images from the Victorian era. But it’s a view of Victorian Britain that could only be enjoyed by the privileged. Browsing in this book made me think about what life
